On the face of it, First Group comes across very responsibly with regards to their commitment towards the disabled using public transport.

However, as you know these things are rarely about public image, but the behaviour people encounter on a day-to-day basis. Talk is cheap and the reality is always much different.

We have all heard the stories about buses who just drive past residents in wheelchairs because of the hassle of stopping. I have to believe this is an urban myth, but nothing surprises me in Colchester anymore.

Colchester has a patchwork quilt transport system with regards to buses, a train network which is not fit for purpose and a walking route ‘Fixing the link’ which is laughable for its lack of suitability for the disabled.
